Hello ORLÉANS!

Welcome to the 68th edition of Orléans Connect. As always, welcome new subscribers! 👋 Happy belated Canada Day 🇨🇦 - it’s always weird when it doesn’t fall on a weekend isn’t it?

With the ⛈️ wild weather of rolling, consecutive thunderstorms yesterday, it was a Canada Day for the history books with much of celebrations and fireworks cancelled due to the dangerous weather, flooding roads, highways and basements, Ottawa received 118mm of rain, the 2nd rainiest day in recorded history.

This past week we drove around and picked up some of the 🏆 prizes for the upcoming Cutest Pets of Orléans, and let us tell you, all you pet owners 🐱🐶 are in for a treat! The prize pool for the contest is simply far beyond our initial expectations, and we’re deeply thankful for all the sponsors who have contributed to it! Stay tuned for more news around that.

This week’s Food Spot Review 🐓 is the brand new Chick-fil-A, now open on Innes. The grand opening was such an event that you could see cars in the drive-through for, well, a long ways, so long that we opted to go on a different day and yet the drive-through was still jammed with cars! Thankfully their service is ultra-efficient. Read the whole review here.

This week’s Orléans business spotlight is… 🥁 Chick-fil-A located at 4280 Innes Rd📍

While Chick-fil-A is a well-known brand, the brand-new Innes location is only the Ottawa region’s 3rd location, with the other two downtown and in Kanata respectively. Known for their chicken sandwiches, nuggets, waffle fries, and milkshakes, Chick-fil-A, adds yet another option to the bevy of fast-food choices along Innes.

As always, if you wind up visiting them, make sure to tell them Orléans Connect sent you.

François Dupuis’s 1830s log cabin (first Orléans house) was lived in (without water or electricity) until 1983; it was moved to the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum in 1984.

Many thanks to Ashley M. for submitting Mouse. She was adopted in 2021 as a former outdoor cat who had kittens before she even turned one. Spay & neuter saves lives, if Mouse hadn’t of been brought in she likely would not be here to find all the high places and plop down for her nightly snuggles!
