Chick-fil-A's arrival in Orleans has been a long time coming, and based on the crowds already lining up at the drive-through, locals clearly agree. We stopped by to check out the new location, sample a handful of menu staples, and see whether the hype (and the lineups) are justified. Here's how our visit went, from the building itself down to the last waffle fry.
THE LOCATION
This Orleans location is brand new, and it shows! The building has that crisp, just-built look with the signature white paneling, illuminated red Chick-fil-A signage, and the oversized pylon sign with the "Eat Mor Chikin" cow logo visible from the road. Given how recently it opened, we expected some hiccups, but the operation already feels dialed in.

What really stood out was the drive-through. Lunch and dinner lineups here are shockingly busy for a new location, the line was wrapped around the building both times we visited and drove past. Despite that, Chick-fil-A has staff outside working the queue with iPads, taking orders while cars are still crawling through the line. It's a small thing, but it makes a massive difference: the line moved quickly, and by the time we pulled up to the window, our food was already ready to go. Zero wait at the window. For a location this new and this busy, that's genuinely impressive execution.
THE MENU

The digital menu boards are bright, clean, and easy to read from the car, broken into clear sections: Original, Spicy, and Grilled meals, plus Salads, Treats, Drinks, and a dedicated Kids menu. Calorie counts are posted for every item, and there's a helpful "350 Cals and under" checkmark system for lighter options. The Grilled meals section (Grilled Chicken, Grilled Chicken Club, Grilled Nuggets) is clearly positioned as the better-for-you side of the menu, while Treats covers hand-spun milkshakes, Icedream cones, and a chocolate chunk cookie. Sauces are laid out with calorie adds too, which is a nice touch for anyone tracking that sort of thing.

THE FOOD
We ordered a good cross-section of the menu:
🥪 Grilled Chicken Sandwich – ⭐️ 4/5
🥪 Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich – ⭐️ 3.5/5
🍗 Chick-fil-A Nuggets – ⭐️ 4/5
🍟 Waffle Potato Fries – ⭐️ 4.5/5
🥤 Cookies and Cream Milkshake – ⭐️ 4/5

Overall, the food was solid but not mind-blowing. Pretty much what you'd expect from a well-run fast food chain. The nuggets were crispy and well-seasoned, and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich had good char and flavor without being dry. The Grilled Chicken Club came together fine but didn't quite justify the step up from the regular grilled sandwich. i.e. the bacon and cheese were tasty, but nothing about it felt like a meaningfully better sandwich for the extra cost.

The clear standout was the waffle fries. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, well-salted, and consistent piece to piece, easily the best item of the visit. The Cookies and Cream milkshake was thick, creamy, and not overly sweet, topped with whipped cream and a cherry, and held up well as a treat to cap off the meal.

THE ORLÉANS CONNECT OVERALL RATING
⭐️ 4.0 stars out of 5
For a location that's this new, Orleans' Chick-fil-A is already running like a well-oiled machine. The food itself lands solidly in "good, reliable fast food" territory rather than anything transcendent, but the waffle fries alone are worth the trip. What really elevates the experience is the operations, the iPad order-takers in the drive-through line keep things moving at a pace that feels almost unfair given how long the queue looks. If you're expecting a long wait based on the line length, don't worry, it moves fast, and pickup at the window is essentially instant. Worth a visit, especially if waffle fries and a milkshake are on your mind.
