Hello ORLÉANS!

Welcome to the 37th edition of Orléans Connect.

It was very interesting to see how the majority of our readers felt about the early dump of snow we had last week… I guess there’s more scrooges like me than I thought. 🤣 Check out the results of last week’s poll below. ⬇️

This past weekend we managed to make it out to the Robert Plante Greenhouse Holiday Market 🎄 and it was very busy. The parking lot was jammed right from 9:00 am! Nevertheless it was wonderful to speak with so many local Orléans vendors and see all that was on offer from local shops, makers, artists and craftspeople. We even managed to get in a little bit of holiday shopping done as well! 🎁

This week we’ve got a new Orléans Food Spot Review - a place that will leave you both satisfyingly full 🍣, and wishing that you had your own robot 🤖 to bring you food at home right to your table. Read our review further down in this edition.👇

Also… don’t forget to check out this week’s poll ❓ at the bottom of the newsletter. This week we’re asking: What features and content do you want to see from Orléans Connect? We would be eternally grateful for your feedback. 🙏

As always, here’s all the happenings in Orléans over the next seven days: ⬇️

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT 🔦

This week’s Orléans business spotlight is… 🥁 SUSHI KAN located at 1675 Tenth Line Rd and with another location at 1910 Innes rd..

Sushi Kan has been our go-to all-you-can eat Sushi 🍱 restaurant for years, and we’ve definitely walked away from this restaurant with straining waistband elastics on many an occasion. If you’re looking for an all-you-can eat Asian Fusion restaurant and want to treat the kids to having their food delivered by a robot, then Sushi Kan is the place to go. Check out our full Orléans Food Spot review of Sushi Kan here.

As always, if you wind up eating or ordering from there, make sure to tell them that Orléans Connect sent you.

The proposed city of Ottawa budget is proposing a 💰 3.75% hike to property taxes, meaning that the average homeowner will pay an extra $166 in property taxes in 2026 if the budget passes. Other prices are going up as well, including a 4.5% hike to water, sewer and stormwater, garbage fees will increase another 10%, and transit fees are going up as well. What inflation?!?! Am I right or am I right? 😫

Many thanks to Manon T. for sending in a photo of Miko, Jackson, and Roxy a very cute trio of what I’m guessing is a Classic Yorkshire Terrier, a Yorkie Mix and another Yorkshire Terrier? An absolutely adorable pack. 🐶💛
