No shortage of tables
At times, one must heed the call of the stomach. You know the one. That deep grumble that you just can’t ignore. I call it the All-You-Can-Eat belly trumpet 🎺 . And times like that call for all-you-can-eat sushi. At least that’s what happens in our family. Enter Sushi Kan, the Orléans all-you-can eat Japanese cuisine spot that is the subject of this review.
Although I don’t know that much about the business, and their website doesn’t give a lot of details about the backstory of this restaurant, I do believe that they went through a name change and a remodel of this Orléans staple in the last five years or so. Also with that change came the robots, but we’ll get to those in a minute.
THE LOCATION
The Sushi Kan location on 10th Line is a sizeable establishment. There’s plenty of seating, both table and comfortable booths, and through our probably dozens of visits, we’ve never encountered anything other than a clean, friendly and busy atmosphere. And while they used to have a large aquarium near the entrance that served as a delight for younger kids, that seems to have been removed for the time being.

Modern, stylish, large and comfortable booths

There’s a large digital screen at the back of the restaurant featuring psychedelic koi and other fish that, if you’re susceptible to hypnotism, may have you staring at it for longer than you care to admit. It certainly is calming.

Virtual koi, but no TV’s
And then there’s the Robots. Yes, Sushi Kan may be one of the only restaurants in Orléans that gets a helping hand from robot delivery assistants. The ordering system is through an iPad dedicated to your table, and once your food is ready, the robot rolls out, pulls alongside your booth or table, and encourages you in a friendly, somewhat robotic voice to grab your food. One tap on its screen later, and it’s off to serve more patrons. The kids, and man-children like myself love it!
But the robot doesn’t deliver everything and so you can expect to have some of your food and drinks to be delivered by real-life humans. I for one welcome our sushi-delivering robot overlords.

Robots!

I shall name him George, and take him home with me, and then he will bring me Sushi at home.
THE FOOD
The menu is plentiful, with your usual fare of soups, salads, appetizers, rolls, sushi, sashimi, noodles, rice and more. It’s essentially the standard set of Japanese and Asian Fusion cuisine you can expect from most all-you-can eat places like this.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years of coming here is that each of their menu items continues to evolve ever so slightly each time we’ve been here. This time around I detected a noticeable difference between the way they cook their Beef teriyaki and their beef dumplings.
Nevertheless, for all-you-can eat quality, 95% of the food we’ve tried here has been in the good to great range.
You can see Sushi Kan’s full menu here.

THE ORLÉANS CONNECT RATING
⭐️ 4.3 stars out of 5
If you’ve got the familiar grumbling sound happening in your tummy area, and you’re a fan of Japanese food, Sushi Kan is definitely a place to satiate that hunger. It’s great for kids, (if you’ve somehow managed to convince your kids that they like Sushi), and offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Plus you get to hang out with some robots while munching on some pretty good rolls, and frankly, who doesn’t love that?
