Orléans Food Spot Review - The Works
A place for Craft Burgers, Beer, and Measuring Cup-Sized Refreshments

With seven locations across Ottawa, including one in Orléans, The Works is a well-known burger joint. We’ve been to this location on more than one occasion and have always enjoyed its quirky factory-like atmosphere along with the food. So how good is the food and experience in the Orléans location?
THE ATMOSPHERE
The conceit behind “The Works” is that you’re essentially coming to some sort of industrial setting, be it a factory, or a water works, or public utility. The decor is filled with sheet metal, brick, and endless knobs and gauges adorning the walls. Even the salt and pepper shakers are made out to look like Edison-style light-bulbs.
As an adult, I can see how the decor can become a bit tedious… we get it… it’s “The Works”… but I’m guessing that the theming is more for kids, thus making this burger joint family and kid-friendly. And yes, they have a kids menu.
Nevertheless, this is what you can expect to see when you get here:

THE SPACE
The space is fairly large, and I can see it easily accommodating a few dozen people at once. The tables are generously sized and there’s both booths and free-floating tables.

This is a 🍔 burger place, no doubt about it. There are currently 34 burger menu options, and the kitchen seems to be pretty easy about customizing one to your specific desires as far as toppings go.
Beyond the burger selection, there’s also a decent number of starters:
Onion rings
Cheddar cheese balls
A dip with crunchy tortillas
Crispy tempura fried broccoli
Breaded dill pickles
And in addition to the starters there are some salad and poutine options as well.

Of-course there are plenty of drink options including some fairly tasty milkshakes (that my daughter allowed me exactly one sip to taste). For beer, there’s a decent selection of domestic drafts, premium drafts, talboys and seltzers along with a small selection of cocktails and wines.

And here are the daily drink specials… though to be honest, I’m not sure if this selection changes from week to week.

WHAT WE HAD
This time around, here’s what we each had and how we felt about each:
Poutine Chez Guy - 5 ⭐️’s out of 5
Premium Vanilla Milkshake - 5 ⭐️’s out of 5
Gettin’ Piggy With It Burger - 4.2 ⭐️’s out of 5
Chicken Fight Club - 3.7 ⭐️’s out of 5

One gimmick that I particularly enjoy at “The Works” is the massive 500ml measuring cups hey serve various pop and refreshments in.

THE ORLÉANS CONNECT RATING
⭐️ 4.0 stars out of 5
This week’s rating was based on the average of how the three of us felt overall about the food, the atmosphere, and the service. (some people are obviously more easily pleased than others 😉)
