Orléans Food Spot Review - Lokma Dessert Bar

The Lokma Dessert Bar was started as a result of a trip to Turkey where the founders of this company discovered a traditional Turkish pastry called, believe it or not, Lokma. And apparently it was love at first bite. Now, customers around Ontario, Quebec, and right here in Orléans can sample a bit of Turkish culture through this unique dessert.

While we had learned about this establishment a few years ago and had far too many of them delivered to us during COVID times, it was only recently that we managed our way over to their shop.

The Orléans location is in a strip mall along St. Joseph Blvd which is only a couple of doors down from another Orléans Food Spot review we recently did on Nagi Sushi. Inside you’ll find a good-sized seating area that is shared with another fast food business, but you’ll immediately be taken with the bright colours and joyful decor. This place is a feast for both your taste and your eyes. I love it when companies go out of their way to decorate their locations like this.

I can’t quite remember all of the varieties of Lokmas we’ve tried over the years, but there’s no shortage of flavours to choose from. Everything from crunchy pistachio to Lokmas filled with custard, covered in milk and white chocolate accompanied by pieces of strawberries, and fresh bananas. If that doesn’t sound tasty to you, I don’t know what to tell you.

And while we haven’t tried every flavour the ones we’ve sampled over the years have all ranged from the very good to the “oh-my-god these are incredible”. Served warm, the various toppings simply melt in your mouth in the best possible way.

In addition to a variety of Lokma flavours, there’s also mini donuts, sundaes and milkshakes, Okogo’s (which appear to be some sort of deep-fried pogo sticks), poutine, and something called Kroffie - a different dessert type). Suffice to say, there is enough sugary treats to please even the sweetest of teeth out there.

The Lokma Dessert Bar is growing fast with what appears to be more locations coming soon to Montreal, Kingston and even out west in Edmonton. And despite being a franchise model, their sweet offering is unique and a welcome diversification of the dessert and pastry offering available in Orléans. Just don’t expect your dentist to be happy you’ve now discovered this place. 😉
