A sizeable bar area contributes to the pub / sports watching motif.

No shortage of craft beer options!

It was one of those nights. You know, a night where you have absolutely no idea what to do for dinner and now it’s far too late to cook something from scratch because your work day went far too long. And so, finding ourselves in that predicament, an executive decision was made. It was time to explore another Orléans restaurant we had somehow not been patrons of in our 8+ years of living in this suburban community we all call home.

THE LOCATION

There was definitely a bit of debate in the car on the way over as to what kind of place Corner Bar & Grill was. But even just pulling into the parking lot, our expectations were lifted and happily exceeded, at least as far as overall look and feel of this restaurant goes. Big windows, good lighting and inviting atmosphere were all readily apparent.

Look there’s no question that this is first and foremost a pub. With generous bar seating and longer tables near the bar, Corner Bar & Grill is no doubt a great place to watch a game, gather with a larger group of friends, or simply go and have a sampling of the wide variety of craft beer on offer.

But what we didn’t expect is how nice, warm and inviting the decor is. There’s also plenty of seating, both booth and table styles away from the bar that it serves as just a nice place to go and eat with or without your family.

The seating was comfortable, and everything was as clean and stylish as one could hope for. That said, if you want to enjoy whatever the game is showing at the moment, there’s also plenty of big screen TVs hanging from the ceiling or mounted on walls so no matter where you’re sitting you’ll be able to catch the game.

THE FOOD

The menu is delightfully large, meaning there’s something here for almost anyone. Sure, you’ll find your standard pub fare like burgers, nachos and wings, but there is a whole lot more. Everything from a wide variety of sandwiches, starters, salads, pizza, pasta, steak, bowls, and more. Yes, there’s a decently sized kids menu, and a surprisingly large dessert menu with plenty of options.

As for drinks, there’s the usual offering of wines, cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, but what Corner Bar & Grill is particularly well known for is their over 30 types of craft beer on tap and in cans with rotating feature taps to celebrate seasonal brews.

The pierogies were delicious! Such a unique twist with the cajun flavour.

WHAT WE HAD

  • Perogies - 8.5 / 10

  • Classic Reuben Sandwich - 8.5 / 10

  • Mushroom Fettuccine with Chicken - 8 / 10

  • Kids Grilled Cheese and Fries - 8.2 / 10

All the food was better than expected. Perhaps that speaks to our collective bias as far as pub food goes, but we all genuinely enjoyed our meals – it’s the kind of food that hits the spot. All of the portions were more than generous and we were particularly impressed with how different and tasty the Cajun dusted potato & cheese perogies were.

I’m a big pasta eater, meaning that I’m particularly critical of pasta dishes most of the time, but I was quite impressed with the quality of the Fettuccine dish, in particular the creamy sauce and the abundance of mushrooms and chicken as well as the crisply golden bacon.
