Well, that’s the curtain call on Summer. It sure was a warm and wet one. But now we can finally look forward to the end of mosquitoes and pesky wasps 🐝, which seem to have been particularly egregious this year. Welcome to the season of cozy sweaters, 🟠 orange everything and of-course pumpkin-spice lattes!

🏃🏾♀️ Sept 24th - Join the Orléans Women’s Run Club at Broadhead Brewery at 6:30 PM for a warm-up. 5 KM run, all paces welcome. Post run, enjoy the Brewery.

🎤 Sept 25th - Grab the mic and head to Karaoke Night at the Orléans Legion! Whether you’re a superstar or spectacularly off-key, Karaoke Night is about great songs, big laughs and a whole lot of fun. On from 7-11 PM.

🎃 Sept 19th - Oct 31st - PumpkinFest 2026 opens this Saturday! Proulx Farm is transformed into a giant Halloween playground! Bring a picnic and head to the farm. There will be outdoor activities, wagon rides, petting zoo, corn maze, play structures, tree houses, slides and so much more! Pick your own pumpkin(s) and get some gorgeous fall photos. Open Saturdays and Sundays (& Thanksgiving Monday) from 10 AM - 5 PM.

🎃 Sept 26th - Some might say it’s a bit early, but if you just can’t wait to get in the spirit of Halloween, head in costume to Metcalfe’s Halloween Farmers Market to do some trick-or-treating, meet and greet with characters (Superhero and Princess themed!), and check out the Rhino “Lightning” McQueen sports car! 45+ local producers and vendors. 🥕 Sept 26th - It’s the 7th Annual Carrot Fest, a hands-on celebration of local food, farming and community at Ottawa Farm Fresh on from 10 AM - 2 PM.

🔬 Sept 26th - The Orléans Branch of the Ottawa Public Public Library is hosting a hands-on STEAM Workshop for kids ages 7-14 years old. Perfect for curious kids who love to explore, invent, create and discover! From 10:30-11:30 AM. Note: a parent or caregiver music remain in the library for the duration of the session.

🎥 Sept 26th - The Community Cookout Series continues, this time in Blackburn Hamlet. This event features a delicious BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, snacks, family-friendly activities, music, lawn games, local vendors and plenty of opportunity to meet your neighbours! On from 11 AM - 3 PM.

💗 Support the Kin Club of Orléans Feed the Need Food Drive! Kin members and volunteers will be collecting food and donations for the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre. They are looking for volunteers to support delivering bags on Sat, Sept 26th, and collecting donations on Sat, Oct 3rd. High school student volunteers welcome! Want to help - email [email protected].
🚲 Take part in Neuro Ride! This is a purpose-driven cycling event to raise awareness and support therapies for individuals from eastern Ottawa and surrounding areas with acquired brain injury and post-concussive syndrome. 🧡 Join Elder John Henri Commanda for the KAIROS Blanket Exercise - a powerful learning experience recommended for all Canadians to learn about this country’s history from Indigenous perspectives. 🗣️ The Chatelaine Village Community Association and Queenswood Heights Community Association are hosting an In-Person Q & A with Ward 1 (Orléans-East - Cumberland) Candidates on Wed, Oct 14th at 7 PM, at Roy Hobbs Community Centre. Ward 1 residents are invited to submit questions you’d like the Orléans-East-Cumberland City Councillor candidates to address. Submit questions by Sept 30th here in this survey.
