To say that stormy late-spring weather has arrived would be an understatement given that fine ⛈️ thunderstorm we had roll through Orléans the other day. It certainly sent half the delegation of pets in our home scurrying under furniture to ride out the storm.

If you haven’t previously submitted your pet to our ongoing Pets of Orléans section in the newsletter (lower down in the newsletter), now is the time to send in some photos of your pet to be included in the coming contest.

📕 Ottawa’s former Poet Laureate Jamaal Amir Akbari is launching his debut poetry collection at this special event - CHAMBERS: Book Launch and Concert. This event includes a live performance blending poetry, music and movement at Shenkman Arts Centre on June 21st. Tickets from $22 - VIP includes a signed book and prints! There will be special guest performers, and a curated pre- and post-show marketplace (from 2:30 PM onwards).

🏳️🌈 It’s Orléans Pride 10th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser on Tues, June 30th from 6-10 PM at the Royal Oak Orléans. There will be live music, a raffle and silent auction. Funds raised go to the Ten Oaks Project, a local 2SLGBTQI+ organization support children, youth and families.

🍿 Local resident Anthony Roberts has started a petition to bring back staffed concession ordering at Landmark Cinemas as he believes many residents, especially seniors, parents and those who prefer face-to-face service, have expressed frustration with the new self-order kiosk system.

Ottawa City is joining the federal Clean Fuel Regulations Program which means the city will be able to sell credits when they change transportation from fossil fuels to clean energy. In theory, this will raise a whole bunch of money for the city. (Source: The Ottawan.)
