Welcome to the 46th edition of Orléans Connect.
Well, it sure looks like we’re entering the deep-freeze 🥶 part of winter in the coming days with temperatures forecast as low as -40°C with the 💨 wind chill. So if you’re heading out this weekend, make sure you bundle up appropriately.
And while the temperatures outside will be frightful, there’s tons of indoor events happening over the next seven days in Orléans.

🎶 January 23rd - Arc of Fire is performing at the Orléans Legion! Join for an evening of dancing from 7 - 11 PM. There will be an optional 3-course dinner from 5 PM - 7 PM for $30.

🏴 January 23rd - Celebrate Robbie Burns Night at the Royal Oak! Join for piping in the haggis, poetry readings, live music and more - from 6 - 9 PM.

❄️ January 24th - Cumberland Farmers Market is hosting a Winter Market, on from 9 AM - 1 PM. Featuring local vendors, farmers and artisans.

📚 January 24th - The Friends of Ottawa Public Library volunteers are holding a Mammoth Used Book Sale at The Bookworm, the used book store of the Cumberland Branch of the Ottawa Public Library! All books are half price - adult books that usually $2 (still a bargain!) will be $1, and kids/teen books and DVDs will be 50 cents! 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM.

Hosted by the Convent Glen Orléans Wood Community Association, with support of Ski Heritage East, Councillor Laura Dudas and Orléans Waxing Haus.
Queenswood Heights Winter Festival is on Sat, Feb 7th from 1 - 4 PM at Queenswood Ridge Park. There will be skating, sliding, snow games, free face painting, free hot chocolate, prizes and hockey skill building!

The Convent Glen Orléans Wood Community Association is holding a Winter Carnival on Feb 14th from 1 PM - 4 PM at Jeanne D’Arc Park (St-Moritz Rink)

5,404 federal workers received notices this week their jobs may be affected by the comprehensive expenditure review and resulting federal government job cuts. Tough times for those affected by these cuts, to be sure.
