Welcome to the 31st edition of Orléans Connect.

Well, it’s safe to say that we are now firmly into the fall 🍁 season and soon enough our social media feeds will all be filled with more orange than you can shake a stick at. And we’re here for all for it! After all, it’s the fun season of 🎃 pumpkins, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween candy 👻🍬 and cozy sweaters!

• 🧠 October 9th - It’s Trivia Night at the Legion - start time at 6 PM. 🎟️ Tickets $20 per person, or a table of 4 for $60. Register with Melanie at [email protected].

• October 10th - Roy G. Hobbs Community Centre will be installing a Rain Garden from 11 AM - 1 PM! People of all ages and abilities are invited to join the Enviro Center in this planting initiative. A light meal will be served for volunteers. for more information please email [email protected].

• 🎨 October 11th - Fall Paint Night at Cafe Latte Cino, from 7 PM to 9 PM. 🎟️ Tickets $65/person - includes all art supplies, a drink and dessert, 2-hr guided paint session and a masterpiece for you to take home. Register by email: [email protected].

• 🍂 October 11th and 12th - Robert Plante Greenhouses is hosting their 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Market featuring over 160 local vendors! Open from 9 AM - 4 PM both days.

• 🥧 October 12th - The Blackburn Community Association is hosting a Friendsgiving Potluck Lunch from 11:30 AM - 2 PM. Youth, seniors, families and members of the community are invited to come together over a Thanksgiving themed luncheon, where there will be opportunities to get to know each other, as well as a team trivia game for prizes! Bring an item to share in the potluck to join in.

• 🎃👻 Ready to get into the Halloween spirit?

  • 👻 The Albert Halloween House 👻

    Open on Wednesdays to Sundays, from 6 PM - 9 PM. This amazing local family has again turned their yard into a thrilling haunted walkthrough to raise money for CHEO! Bring your family and friends for a night of thrills and chills, all for a great cause! Last year they raised over $15,000 for CHEO!

    • 🎟️ Entry: FREE, donations welcome – all proceeds go directly to CHEO!

    • 😱 Live jump scares will only be on the last weekend.

    • 🏚️ Where: 268 Pintail Terrace, Orléans ON

  • 😱 sKreamers at Proulx Farm

    Visitors can brace themselves for bone-chilling thrills with two terrifying haunted houses, a dark wagon ride, and maze filled with live actors creating scares at every turn. With over 150 volunteers helping bring the experience to life, sKreamers is as much a community effort as it is a thrilling adventure.

    • For Ages 10+

    • 🏚️ Where: Proulx Farm, 1865 O’Toole Rd.

    • 🎟️ Entry: $25/person. Tickets sold online and in-person (no ATM).

    • 🗓️ OPEN on Fridays and Saturdays in October

    • 🕕 Gates and box office open at 7 PM. Box office closes at 9 PM. Last wagon leaves at 9:15 PM. Doors close at 10 PM. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

• 🎃 Proulx Farm’s Annual Pumpkin Fest is on! It started Sept 20th and goes until Oct 26th on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 AM - 5 PM. The farm is transformed into a giant Halloween playground! Bring a picnic and come join for a ghostly gathering!

• 💃🕺 Looking for a fun night out for ADULTS only right here in Orléans? Join for Saved By the Bell 2 - the Ultimate Throwback Dance Party at St Peter High School on Fri, Oct 17th. Must be 19+ to attend.

• 🍻 OktoberFest is on at the Orléans Legion on October 17th. Come raise your beer stein and enjoy live music by Cara Q. No advanced tickets or reservations required. First come, first served event.

• 👠 Halloween Drag Night is coming to Broadhead Brewery on Sat, Oct 18th, from 7 PM - 10 PM. 🎟️ Tickets $20. Ages 19+.

• 🖼️ Paint Night is on Thur, Oct 23rd at 6 PM, at the Orléans Legion, in partnership with It Takes a Village Dog Rescue. Register with Melanie at [email protected]. 🎟️ $40 per person, includes all materials.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT 🔦

This week’s Orléans business spotlight is… 🥁 … MAVERICK’S DONUTS located at 1968 Portobello Blvd. Maverick’s Donut Company makes and sells some of the most delicious gourmet donuts to be found anywhere. And when it comes to flavours, they’re not afraid to serve up the usual classics as well as experimental combinations and tastes.

So, whether you’re looking to satiate your cravings with a classic glazed donut or want to try something more daring like a “Maple Bacon” or “Oreo Nirvana” donut, now’s a good time to try them out.
