🍓Strawberry season is here… Proux Farm is kicking off the season with the Orléans-Trim Circle K kiosk opening around June 14th and pick-your own soon. More specific dates will be announced soon.. make sure you’re following their Facebook page for updates.

👗Thursday June 12th - Café Latte Cino is hosting a Shop our Closet Sip and Shop Event from 6 PM - 9 PM.

🦞Friday June 15th - Time for the Annual East Coast Lobster Boil! Pick your lobster and it will be boiled right in front of you on the patio! Live music with Kinnexa Cross starts at 6 PM. Enjoy a cold pint of one of Nova Scotia’s favourite beers, Moosehead lager. Event is on rain or shine... either a patio party or a kitchen party, one way or another, the show must go on!

🐶 Saturday June 14th - June Breeze Market (Dog Friendly) - This amazing outdoor market features over 30 local vendors, free entry, free parking, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. It's the perfect way to spend your day! Don't miss out on the fun! 10 AM - 3 PM.

⚡Saturday June 14th - Come out and learn more about ways to save on your natural gas bill, and significantly reduce your home’s emissions at the Home Energy Efficiency and Heat Pumps Event (Open House) from 9:30 AM - 12 PM

🏓 Sunday June 15th - Check out the Orléans Pickel Ball Festival! Pickleball is so popular in Ottawa that it’s time for the first festival for the sport. 100% of this event’s profits go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa (the organizers and hosts of the festival). 9 AM - 8 PM
There are two additional events Orléans Family Fun Fest and Orléans Maker Market - 2 PM - 6 PM for you to enjoy on the same site as the Pickel Ball Festival. A full day of fun for Fathers’ Day
📍Pierre Rocque Park (note, organizers request that you park in the large lot at Gabe’s No Frills, then walk behind the store, past the ball diamond and on to the festivals in the park. Please do not park on the streets).
👮Wednesday June 18th join the Blackburn Hamlet Community Association for a Crime Prevention Workshop from 7 PM - 9 PM. Please send a confirmation of your attendance to [email protected] by June 13th. Refreshments will be served.

📚Head over to ZunZun Little Free Library to celebrate their 3rd Anniversary! They are hosting an Open Garage Day - explore a variety of free books for all ages! Saturday June 21st, from 12 PM - 4 PM
🍓Gloucester Horticulture Society is hosting their 100th Anniversary Strawberry Social, includes a silent auction, photo show and display on Saturday June 21st at 1 PM

🚴🚴♀️ Did you know June is Let’s Bike Month Ottawa? You can win great prizes just by biking to work, for fun or to run errands. Get out and get active Orléans! Explore Bike Ottawa’s Interactive Maps to plan your routes.
🚉 The LRT extension into Orléans is expected to be completed by this fall! (Orléans Star). It’s been a real long time we’ve been waiting, but I think despite the lack of defined open date yet, fair to say we are READY!

The Convent Glen - Orléans Woods Community Association Environment Committee is planning for their second Repair Café at the Orléans United Church, to be hosted on September 27th from 2 PM - 5 PM. To get ready for this event, the call is open for Volunteer Fixers! Also seeking a Knife Sharpener. If you are available and have the skills to volunteer, please email: [email protected].
🧘♀️Outdoor Yoga is Coming BACK! 🪷
Two different weekly options, thanks to our wonderful Community Associations in Orléans.
⭐ Every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM, beginning June 25th the Greater Avalon Community Association is hosting outdoor yoga at Alain-Fortain Catholic Elementary School (676 Lakeridge Dr). Bring a mat, water bottle and cozy blanket. Register by emailing [email protected].
⭐ Every Wednesday evening from 7 PM - 8 PM, beginning July 2nd, the Convent Glen Orléans Wood Community Association is hosting Yoga in the Park at Décarie Park (7883 Décarie Dr). No registration required.

Did you know that there is a city in France also called Orléans? It’s true! Check it out. But what’s stranger still is that population is almost exactly the same as the population of the suburb we all live in. I wonder if anyone who reads this newsletter has been to Orléans, France?
